Delete Data
Functions > Setup > Delete Data
After an extended period of time RentHQ can accumulate a lot of data. Some of that data takes up a lot of space (particularly attachments) but are not really required any more.
The Delete Data function allows for bulk deletion of old data.
Warning. Once data is deleted from the database it can not be undeleted again. Therefore it is recommended you do a database backup prior to doing a bulk deletion. If you make a mistake, you can choose to restore the database backup to return back to the same position you were in prior to the backup.
However attachments files are NOT stored in the database. Therefore once an attachment file is deleted, it is permanently gone. You would need to find another copy of the file and reattach it again to get it back.
The deletion process is a multi-step process.
- First RentHQ will ask you what type of data you want to delete.
- Next it will ask you for some deletion parameters such as how old the record must be before it is considered for deletion.
- The next step will provide a preview. This will tell you how many records match the deletion parameters. At this point, nothing has yet been deleted.
- The final step is the actual deletion. This is where the database records and attachment files are deleted.
